"We didn't just want a tent - we wanted a reason to leave town."

When Beth and Joel designed their first roof tent over ten years ago, it wasn't about a product. It was about a promise: just drive off. To be outside. And being able to rely on what's there to protect you. Today, this idea has become Feldon Shelter - a small brand with big aspirations that shows what happens when you don't copy, but build yourself.

"Camping in New Zealand is not always nice - but that's a good thing." Because if you perfect your tent there, you can trust it anywhere.

A roof tent is not an accessory

What's on the roof often determines how you sleep, how you wake up - and whether you continue your journey in the morning or turn back. For Beth and Joel, it was clear: if they were going to build a tent, they wanted one that would last. Not just for the night, but for many years to come. Not a cheap tent with a logo sticker, not marketing blah-blah - but a tent that looks like their country, is built for their weather and works without you having to think about it.

1,000 nights outdoors - and each one made it better

The Crow's Nest, Feldon Shelter's first model, was not designed on a drawing board, but perfected under clouds, wind and corrugated iron tracks. The tent survived over 1,000 nights outdoors before it went into production. Nights with hail. Nights with condensation. Nights with ventilation tests in storms. And above all: nights that have shown where other tents fail - and where you can improve. Every night has helped to make the tent more robust, more practical and more durable.

Today, the Crow's Nest stands for exactly that: a well thought-out roof tent suitable for 4 seasons, quick to pitch, stable in wind, dry in rain, well ventilated in the sun. With space for bedding even when the tent is closed. With real zippers, real canvas, real ideas. Every detail makes sense - because it has been tried and tested outdoors.

Beth & Joel - the brains behind the idea

Beth is the planner with the sketchbook. Joel is the adventurer with the wrench. Together they have created something that has become rare: an honest brand with character. No corporate structure, no trends, no buzzword bingo - just a clear vision: a roof tent that you not only use, but really enjoy putting up.

"We didn't want another tent. We wanted one that you could put up even in a storm - simply because you know it will hold."

What sets Feldon Shelter apart

Feldon Shelter is not a lifestyle gadget. It is an outdoor tool. And although parts of production are now outsourced, the claim remains the same as on the first day: maximum function, durable materials, well thought-out design.

  • 100% in-house design - no OEM, no sticker branding
  • Developed & tested in New Zealand - under real conditions
  • Robust materials, clear function, zero show
  • A tent you can feel - and rely on

In addition to the Crow's Nest, there is now also the Hawk's Nest - more compact, lighter, for those who want to set off even faster. Two tents, one common promise: what counts outdoors is what really lasts.
