A one-handed locking mechanism made of stainless steel is very easy to operate and allows the mount to be folded down. The adapters are approx. 480 mm high and, in conjunction with the body adapters and the storage table, are approx. 45 mm high. The mounting distance between the mechanisms is between 1135mm and 1195mm and is achieved using four M8 blind rivet nuts.
An adjustable strap allows perfect leveling when unfolded. A rubber damper prevents annoying rattling. The plain bearing guide in the lower area increases the service life while reducing play.
The optionally available storage table made of 3 mm thick, high-strength aluminum can be easily mounted on the mechanisms and provides a perfect base for outdoor activities. The set is designed for the maximum available space on the Defender. In addition to the Defender, however, the mechanisms are also suitable for many other vehicles with a more or less flat mounting surface. A shortened set, e.g. for side mounting on expedition vehicles, is also available.
As an alternative to the standard table, but otherwise of the same design, there is a variant with a significantly reduced depth when unfolded (approx. 180 mm shorter). This allows smaller people to reach the window without any problems. However, the installation of sand plates is somewhat difficult here.
Various mounting adapters allow a wide range of applications. Short, direct body adapters allow you to fit the window directly to the side of the vehicle. The adapters expose the rear screw heads and allow the mechanisms to be removed easily. They also allow the mechanisms to be mounted significantly lower, as they bridge the sheet metal thickening between the side body and the substructure of the Defender. This means that smaller people can also enjoy the storage table. Special adapters are also available for mounting on a cage. These were developed for the Safety Devices cage and attach the mechanisms directly to the tubes.
To complete the set, Rough Parts also offers various sand plate mountings. There are 3 different kits to choose from: The Maxtrax MK2 mounting kit made of stainless steel (threaded) and plastic quick-release clamps. This kit can be used to attach Maxtrax plastic sand plates to the table. There is a hole for a padlock at the top of each bracket. Alternatively, there are also universal fasteners for aluminum or steel sheets. To clamp and release, the key must be inserted into the star knobs and turned through 180°. This creates a positive connection between the handle and the threaded bush. Turned back by 180°, the connection is released again. The matt black star grips have an M10 internal thread, are glass fiber reinforced and temperature-resistant up to 100°C. All components are double powder-coated to ensure long-lasting fun in the field or on the road. This comprehensive scope of delivery also includes a black stainless steel screw set.
