What you don't see on your off-road vehicle will ultimately determine how long it lasts. Underbody cleaning is not a detail, it's the foundation for durability, rust protection and the long-term function of your vehicle.
Hi, I'm Mike from Australia. I started Salt Shift because I kept coming back to the same point over the years - and couldn't find a solution that really worked.
I spend a lot of time outdoors. On the water, off-road, wherever vehicles and equipment come into contact with salt. And no matter how carefully you clean them after use, the same problem always remains in the end: salt doesn't just disappear. It settles, attracts moisture and starts to work.
I have tried many things. Nothing has convinced me. It was either too complicated, too superficial or simply not consistent enough. So I started working on it myself. Together with the renowned chemist "Prof. Paul" and a small group of specialists, we spent over a year testing, discarding and redeveloping. Our goal was clear: a solution that not only removes salt, but really dissolves it - quickly, easily and without unnecessary effort. In the end, Salt Shift was born.
I used to do exactly what most people do: Wash the car, give it a quick rinse, done. As long as it looks good, it's fine. Until I started to take a closer look.
I spend a lot of time on the water. Boats, jet skis, 4WDs - anything that comes into contact with salt. And at some point you realize: The problem isn't what you see. The problem is what you don't see. Salt doesn't disappear. It settles, attracts moisture and starts to work. Not after months. Immediately, on the frame. On the suspension. Around the exhaust. In cavities that you can never really reach with the hose. And that's where the wear starts.
I've tried a lot of things. Hose, high-pressure cleaner, various attachments. You can get closer, but never really get there. And that's exactly why it's neglected. Not because it doesn't matter. But because it's inconvenient. It was clear to me: if I take the issue seriously, I need a solution that I actually use. Without effort. Without discussion.
This resulted in the Underbody Blaster.
The idea was not to build something "new". The idea was to do the obvious right. A tool that you slide under your vehicle. Without a jack. Without a lift. And that works exactly where salt and dirt get stuck.
The nozzles are made of stainless steel and are aligned in such a way that they do not just hit the underbody, but cover it. Suspension, chassis, cross members, exhaust - the areas that are not normally reached. You go through cleanly from front to back. Slowly. Controlled. And then you see what comes out. This is the moment when many people first understand what really collects down there.
Mud is not just dirt. It holds moisture. Salt remains bound in it and continues to work. It adds up. Drive after drive. At some point you have corrosion. Parts that no longer run smoothly. And a vehicle that ages faster than it should. This has nothing to do with extreme off-roading. It also happens in everyday life. Wet roads, winter, near the coast.
If you ignore it, it becomes an issue. If you do it regularly, it's not.
I use the blaster myself in exactly the same way. After every tour where it makes sense. Not because the Underbody Blaster is so cool, but because I know what happens otherwise. In combination with our Off-Road Wash, it's not just about rinsing off the dirt. The salt is dissolved. That's the difference. We spent over a year developing this with "Prof. Paul". With countless tests, with many things that didn't work. Salt Shift is the result of exactly that. A clean solution.
SALT SHIFT is a well thought-out system
However, the Underbody Blaster Pro is not a stand-alone product, but part of a well-thought-out system for underbody cleaning in 4x4s. The decisive factor is the interaction. The aim is not just to remove salt and dirt superficially, but to loosen and rinse them out where they cause damage later on.
SALT SHIFT Underbody Blaster Pro
The Underbody Blaster Pro applies water and pressure precisely to the areas that often remain untouched during normal washing. It is pushed under the vehicle and cleans the underbody specifically where salt, mud and dirt accumulate - on the chassis, on the frame, around the exhaust and on the cross members.
SALT SHIFT Off-Road Wash
The off-road wash ensures that salt, mud and deposits are dissolved in the first place. This is exactly where the difference lies: it's not just about rinsing off dirt, but dissolving residues so that they don't get stuck or retain moisture in the vehicle.
The Chassis Flusher cleans the frame from the inside. It is connected to a normal garden hose and inserted into the openings in the chassis beams. This allows water to reach areas that cannot be reached from the outside and flushes sand, salt and mud from the inside of the frame before corrosion occurs.
SALT SHIFT Ultimate Off-Road Wash Kit
The Ultimate Off-Road Wash Kit combines precisely these elements in a complete setup for the thorough cleaning of 4x4s, trailers and off-road vehicles. This turns individual components into a system that not only removes salt, mud and deposits, but also dissolves them and rinses them out completely.
How to clean the underbody of your 4x4 properly
- Park the vehicle and let it cool down
- Slide the Underbody Blaster Pro under the vehicle
- Work with Off-Road Wash to loosen salt and mud
- Systematically clean from front to back
- Rinse with clear water
Regular cleaning prevents corrosion before it occurs.
