Description

With this ZIRBENBOX on a SCANIA chassis, we have teamed up with SCHATZMEISTER and SCANIA Austria to create an exceptionally rugged expedition vehicle: Equipped with practical redundant systems and plenty of storage space, the vehicle offers ample reserves. The interior of the Zirbenbox (completed in January 2022 by SCHATZMEISTER, Tyrol) is high-quality, cozy, and optimized for a healthy quality of life.

The vehicle was on the road from February 2022 to May 2023, primarily in the Baltic States and Scandinavia, and more than passed the practical test of everyday travel, especially in cold regions.

The SCANIA’s sole previous owner was RUAG in Switzerland. The vehicle served as a fire department service vehicle at the southern portal of the Gotthard Tunnel and was meticulously maintained over the years. The truck was purchased in 2020 with 16,000 km on the odometer and was customized in 2021 and early 2022 by SCHATZMEISTER in collaboration with SCANIA Austria. The vehicle features a 6-speed Allison automatic transmission and permanent 6x6 all-wheel drive.

In the summer of 2022, Marquart shock absorbers were retrofitted to the front, and the rear leaf springs were optimized. Due to engine damage, the vehicle received a completely new genuine SCANIA engine in February 2023 (at 40,000 km), which was installed by SCANIA Finland. The chassis was completely repainted and sealed in Germany in 2025. The cab features three new Grammer air-suspension seats; a fourth seat can be retrofitted. The rear section of the CrewCab thus houses the third seat, a spacious shelving unit, and a 65-liter chest freezer. There is a passageway with lockable doors between the cab and the living area.

The Swiss stone pine box is 6 m long and 2.55 m wide—and offers tiny house-style living comfort. A special feature of the living area is a separate office corner with an additional window—here you can work while sitting or standing. The large Swedish stove with a glass front—manufactured in Appenzell (Switzerland)—offers incredible coziness. Thanks to the long cabin, a spacious shower and an extra medicine cabinet in the kitchen were made possible. Tried-and-true Schatzmeister functionality with a large lift-up bed (200 x 155 cm) featuring a horsehair mattress from Moosbuerger, a pop-up roof, a very spacious seating area, and two terrace modules (1.8 m x 4 m). Cooking is done with gas (2 x 11 kg gas cylinders with heated valves), but can also be converted to electric. Additional specifications include: 450 l fresh water, 140 l heated gray water tank, separate toilet, 2 x 200 Ah 24V lithium-ion batteries, 1,840 watts of solar power, all electronics by Mastervolt, structured network cabling (CAT6), 4G industrial internet router, numerous USB A/B ports, high-quality water filtration system by Famous Water, two redundant diesel heaters for the living compartment, engine-powered parking heater and air-powered parking heater in the CrewCab, Honda 22i generator for charging the battery in winter, roof rack with space for, e.g., 8 Taf cases, removable motorcycle lift.

Are freedom and self-sufficiency important to you? Do you feel confident driving a powerful vehicle, and is comfortable living space important to you? Then you’ll find your future mobile home in this very well-maintained and like-new vehicle: The Zirbenbox on a SCANIA 6x6 is a vehicle equipped to the highest technical standards, which has been carefully and lovingly maintained by its owners, Mike and Regina. Conclusion: A tried-and-true, adventure-ready, high-quality solution with reliable functionality across all systems.

We’d be happy to send a detailed brochure to serious buyers; as part of the sales process, we reserve the right to request proof of your financial standing. Currently, the wait time for a new ZIRBENBOX is 4 years or longer. The current list price is 990,000 CHF. Our vehicle is available immediately, ready to drive, and also represents a stable investment.
