For sale is a 2004 VW T5 California, which I bought first-hand from a garage in Frutigen in 2010. The vehicle was hardly used for the first six years - it originally served as a kind of "guest room" for friends of the previous owners, who never actually spent the night in it. Up until 2010, it therefore only had around 40,000 km on the clock, mainly from trips between Basel and Frutigen.

Since I took over the bus in 2010, it has been carefully maintained and technically upgraded. I promptly had BF Goodrich all-terrain tires and matching rims fitted. A Seikel conversion was also carried out, which is registered in the vehicle registration document. The rims and tires are not registered separately, but this is not necessary - the vehicle was last presented on 12.08.2025 without any problems. Underbody protection has been fitted at the front.

The VW T5 California has a solar system on the roof, a Victron charger and an outside connection for a shower. The interior has (almost) never been cooked in, so it is in a correspondingly well-kept condition. Around 95% of all services were carried out in VW garages; the remaining work - such as the installation of the solar system - was carried out by a specialist workshop in the Zurich Oberland.

In August 2025, the vehicle was comprehensively prepared for the MFK at Garage Johann Frei (including checking and adjusting the brakes, track and lights, as well as an emissions test and engine/chassis cleaning).

In October 2025, an interval service with brake fluid change, clutch bleeding and new pollen and allergen filter was carried out at AMAG. In addition, the hydraulic system of the pop-up roof was completely overhauled - both hydraulic cylinders were replaced and the system was refilled, bled and tested. The front and rear parking sensors, the left-hand exterior mirror and the coupling rod on the front axle were also replaced.

The bus is therefore currently fully serviced, ex MFK and in very well-maintained, technically perfect condition.

The additional maintenance work and investments justify the sales price of CHF 31,800.

The vehicle is a four-wheel drive model and was mainly used for highway driving and traveling in Switzerland and Europe. Occasionally it was driven on forest roads when looking for places to stay overnight, but it was never really used off-road. There are slight signs of wear on the bumpers and a small amount of paint abrasion from the bicycle rack on the rear panel. The fridge, gas stove and the entire kitchen unit work perfectly.

I am reluctant to part with this bus, but with the third child we need a vehicle with five seats - a corresponding conversion would be too expensive. Further details can be found in the short description, please contact me if you have any questions.
