Description
Wooden Expedition Living Cabin (Unimog / Land Cruiser / Land Rover / Trailer / Van / Universal)
Reason for sale: Development of a successor model (also a national research project). Condition: Virtually new.
1. Construction & Materials
- Origin: Research project by CLB Switzerland, ETH, ZHAW, BFH, and industry partners.
- Primary structure: Wood --> The vapor-permeable construction prevents condensation and ensures thermal stability.
- Insulation: Softwood fiberboard (high phase shift for optimal thermal protection).
- Exterior cladding: Aircraft-grade plywood, pressure-impregnated and oiled. --> The autoclave impregnation prevents wood decay caused by moisture or microorganisms (similar to the principle used for underground utility poles).
- Glazing: Triple-glazed yacht-grade windows (Gebo Marine) designed for high pressure and torsional loads.
- Dimensions (L x W x H): 3.00 x 2.11 x 1.75 m (roof retracted). Interior height with roof extended: 2.20 m.
- Weight: 700 kg (ready for operation)
2. Infrastructure (Büttner Elektronik)
- Electrical system: Solar panel, 230V inverter, redundant chargers (shore power / alternator), USB ports, gas alarm.
- Kitchen: 2-burner gas stove, sink (running water), compressor refrigerator.
- Sleeping: Longitudinal bed, 2.05 m long (capacity: 2 people).
3. Installation & Registration Requirements
- Mounting: A removable, bolted metal subframe (custom-made for the Unimog 417) is included. It can be modified as needed for loading onto other trailers or transport vehicles.
- Stationary operation: 4 support legs allow the cabin to be parked independently.
- SVG/VRV: When transported on a bridge, the cabin is considered cargo (force- or form-fitting securing required per VRV Art. 73) --> Since it is not permanently welded to the chassis, the cabin is not subject to the MFK inspection requirement. History: Previous MFK registration as a “motor home” in combination with the Unimog is documented.

Wooden shipping crate (Unimog / Land Cruiser / Land Rover / Trailer / Van / Universal)
Reason for sale: Development of the successor model (also a national research project). Condition: Like new.
1. Construction & Materials
- Origin: Research project by CLB Switzerland, ETH, ZHAW, BFH, and industrial partners.
- Primary structure: Wood --> The diffusion-open structure prevents condensation and ensures thermal stability.
- Insulation: Wood fiber panels (high thermal phase shift).
- Exterior cladding: Aviation-grade plywood, pressure-treated and oiled --> Autoclave treatment prevents moisture-induced wood degradation (similar to the principle used for buried utility poles).
- Glazing: Triple-glazed, yacht-grade windows (Gebo Marine) designed to withstand torsional and compressive stresses.
- Dimensions (L x W x H): 3.00 x 2.11 x 1.75 m (roof lowered). Interior height (roof raised): 2.20 m.
- Weight: 700 kg (ready for use).
2. Infrastructure (Büttner Elektronik)
- Electricity: Solar panel, 230V inverter, redundant chargers (shore power / alternator), USB ports, gas alarm.
- Kitchen: 2-burner gas stove, sink (running water), refrigerator.
- Sleeping arrangements: 2.05 m long bed (sleeps 2 people).
3. Installation & Legal Compliance
- Mounting: A removable, bolted metal auxiliary frame (custom-designed for the Unimog 417) is included. It can be adapted as needed for loading onto other flatbeds or trailers.
- Parking: 4 support legs allow the camper unit to be parked independently.
- LCR/OCR: When transported on a flatbed, the living unit is considered cargo (securing in accordance with Art. 73 OCR is mandatory) --> Since it is not welded to the chassis, the living unit is exempt from OETV inspection. History: A previous type approval as a “motorhome” in combination with the Unimog is documented.
