Description
An expedition vehicle based on a fire truck, which was completely converted in the early 2000s and, most recently in 2023, had its interior rebuilt and underwent technical refurbishment.
Over €35,000 has been invested since 2023.
Complete documentation dating back to the initial registration is included, along with all inspection records, service records, and a complete workshop manual. The vehicle inspection (HU) is valid through 2027 but could easily be renewed.
First registered in 1973, 63,603 km mileage, gross vehicle weight 7,495 kg, so it can be driven with an “old” passenger car driver’s license. Registered standard tire size is 365/80R20, so there are no issues with sourcing them.
The vehicle is well-thought-out, professionally built, and in very good condition. It hasn’t been driven since the 2023 conversion but has mostly been stored in a garage, especially during the winter.
To list and describe everything would take too long. This thing is quirky, massive, gigantic, and a lot of fun. Thanks to its consistent low-tech design, you can be sure to get help in any country in the world should anything go wrong.
The legendarily robust 5.6-liter Deutz F6L six-cylinder air-cooled engine is perfectly equipped for any adventure. As a naturally aspirated engine, it’s particularly resistant to dirt and dust, and as the saying goes, the fewer parts there are, the less can break. Despite its mere 110 PS, it reaches 87 km/h on flat terrain according to the GPS, but of course, we tend to take it easy…
Apart from a few minor issues (speedometer, engine brake, auxiliary gauges), everything works flawlessly—especially the “expensive” components of the braking system and steering, where a significant investment was made: just under 10,000€. All receipts are available.
The tires should be balanced, as the vehicle vibrates heavily at 45 km/h. Other than that, it’s problem-free.
The frame is in excellent condition and rust-free; the body is also in very good shape.
The dimensions listed on the registration certificate (should be accurate) are 7,420 x 2,300, 3,450h. The currently registered curb weight is 6,370 kg, and the gross vehicle weight rating is 7,490 kg.
There are four registered seats with seat belts, and a total of five sleeping berths. A TRUMA heater is included but not installed.
2 Ective AGM lead-acid batteries (cycle-resistant), 12 V / 230 Ah (on-board power system for the living area; charging via an automatic isolating relay while the engine is running using a Victron 24/12 V DC/DC converter, or continuously via 2x 170 W solar panels (total 340 W)).
3x 230-V outlets, powered by an Ective pure sine wave inverter (1,000 W continuous power), fused and equipped with a residual current device (RCD).
150-liter fresh water tank inside the vehicle with a silver-ion mesh filter at the inlet for water preservation; water treatment via an activated carbon filter and a UV-C sterilization system.
80-liter wastewater tank, mounted externally under the vehicle floor.
Approved and tested gas system (30 mbar) including a mount for an 11-kg gas cylinder (stored in a ventilated compartment outside the living area; TÜV-certified).
Shower with stainless steel shower pan and fully sealed plastic wall paneling; the shower area features a dry-separating toilet in a removable module.
The living compartment is mounted using a rubber-mounted three-point fastening system, which allows for chassis flex.
The sale is due to a family situation that has rendered both the purchase and all subsequent investments pointless; unfortunately, the vehicle was never used and has only cost immense sums of money. Sold on behalf of a customer, therefore naturally without warranty or return policy.
The front right door has a dent (see photos; not a big deal), but a rust-free replacement part in a different color is included.
