Description
Unimog 417 Expedition Vehicle
It was with a heavy heart that we decided to sell our Unimog.
Our “MogMog” was always a faithful companion on many of our trips.
Thousands of kilometers across Europe, to unforgettable places where a normal vehicle would have given up long ago.
Not least, on our biggest trip through Morocco, the Western Sahara, and Mauritania, it safely took us over 10,000 km to our destination—right through the middle of the Sahara at 45°C in the shade.
The Unimog was professionally converted and outfitted in 2004 by a former workshop called “Dakar Shop” and was later used as a support vehicle for the Dakar Rally.
There is complete documentation of the vehicle dating back to the purchase of the chassis. All drawings, receipts, and operating manuals are organized in folders. Even the original blueprints for the bodywork, drawn on graph paper, are available.
I have carefully continued to maintain this documentation.
In the meantime, I’ve had it certified as a classic car
The Unimog is ready to drive immediately. I will renew the TÜV certification before selling it.
The vehicle is equipped with all spare parts, oils, and diesel and gasoline cans.
From spare fuses to spare light bulbs, filters, and V-belts, everything is on board.
All camping and off-road equipment is also included.
As it’s currently equipped and being sold, the vehicle was on the road in Africa for 3 months. So everything you need is included.
I’d be happy to provide more information upon request… though it’s a very long list ;)
I know this vehicle inside and out and have spent years repairing, maintaining, and modifying it. There isn’t a single grease fitting I don’t know ;)
So if any questions come up after the purchase, there’s probably none I can’t answer.
All of the vehicle’s documentation is included with the sale. I’m also happy to include the original workshop manual (3 binders), both in print and digitally.
I’m happy to include all my personal notes, such as lubrication schedules and maintenance intervals.
It’s a very special vehicle that more than deserves to continue exploring the world of off-roading!

Chassis
The chassis is a Unimog 417.111 1150L with a long wheelbase.
Mileage: 64,500 km
The engine is an OM352.XIII (353,940) with a displacement of 5,675 ccm and 81 kW / 110 PS
An oil change was recently performed; fuel consumption at 80 km/h is approximately 22 L of diesel
The transmission is a 3x4-speed (4 reverse, 4 low-range, 4 high-range) with pneumatically controlled four-wheel drive and a differential lock
The transmission has been completely overhauled; I replaced the release and pilot bearings as a precaution
The installed sintered metal clutch is extremely durable (all tested ;) )
Each fuel tank holds 160 liters of diesel
The braking system is a dual-circuit hydraulic system with air-assisted braking. It features 4 disc brakes and dual brake pistons on the front axle
The vehicle has a total height of 3.36 m
Additional specifications:
Bull bar with reinforced front
Underbody protection
7.5-metric-ton electric winch
Front auxiliary headlights (switchable)
Compressed-air dual-tone horn (it’s really powerful)
Snorkel with cyclone separator
Truck tow hitch with all necessary connections
I completely overhauled all the transfer cases and fitted them with HPH transfer case breather valves
The transfer cases didn’t need a single drop of oil in Africa!!
Front connection for battery welding
Front connection for compressed air
Air-suspension driver’s seat
3 diesel pre-filters
New water pump, so the cooling system has been flushed and refilled
Tires: CONTINENTAL MPT 81 365/80/R20, mileage 10,000 km
Snap-ring rims with balancing granules
Fuel tank selector switch for diesel tanks (Left, Right, Off)
Living Area
The living area consists of a steel frame and fiberglass panels. Under normal circumstances, the structure would easily survive being tipped over.
The living area features a kitchenette, a dining area, a sleeping area, and a bathroom with a shower and a chemical toilet.
At the front of the alcove, there is ample storage space for everything you need on your trip
With the built-in onboard battery and the solar panels on the roof, you’re completely self-sufficient.
Optionally, the battery can be charged via shore power or the alternator. A 230V converter is installed.
In the rear section, under the bed, there is a large storage compartment accessible from both sides via two hatches. Each hatch can be secured horizontally with two struts. (See pictures)
Standing height: approx. 191 cm

160-liter water tank
ALB water filter with separate faucet
